Things to Look for When Hiring a Painter

Past Experience

Right Painter, right project?

It's important to know that the painter you hire is skilled in the type of work you need completed.

References?

Can your painter provide references for past work? If they are unwilling to provide references, that may be a red flag that they are inexperienced.

Licensed and Insured?

Hiring a painter who is properly insured is important for so many reasons. It protects the liability of the land owner and ensures you are dealing with a reputable company with good credit and safety standing. Most municipalities require a business license which is also important because they have departments that provide oversight of various aspects, including labor and waste disposal regulations to ensure good practices are taking place.

Comparing Quotes

Apples to Apples?

When looking to have a paint project completed it's important to get multiple quotes and make sure the quotes include the same things so you can make an even comparison.

Things to look for:

  • Do the quotes include prepping of surfaces such as sanding and priming?
  • Do the quotes include taping off and covering of areas not to be painted?
  • Do the quotes include all materials required?

Hiring the right painter is crucial to getting the right results.
